IMPERMANENCE
Impermanence is one of the main laws that operate continuously in the universe, Impermanence is always hidden in all situations, circumstances, things, and things both tangible and intangible. This is also a core focus of the teachings of the Buddha, a teacher who was fully awakened about 2,600 years ago.
We don't need a religion to be able to hear and receive these simple, true, but incredibly profound and intellectual teachings, because fully awakened teachers never discriminate. We only need a deep contemplation of those teachings, observing the continuous operation of those truths in practice in order to determine for ourselves whether these things are reliable or not from our own sense of it. This process will create an enlightened belief, a belief guided by our own intuition rather than an automatic opinion belief that is defaulted by some ideology. Religious debate is unnecessary and does not help our lives. Instead of arguing and defending the default views, let us consciously listen and reflect on all the authentic teachings from teachers. And more importantly, we must let these teachings flow into our daily activities to help us lead a lighter and more inspiring life. When we receive these wisdom teachings in a natural and profound state, unrestricted by religious prejudices, we will feel that all the true teachings from the teachers point to the most universal common truths. For all those who, when fully awakened, will realize the universal and unique nature of reality, only that the teachings are expressed in different ways, according to the general context of each territory in different times.
Impermanence – impermanence is nothing, usually a fixed permanence. Everything in the world is impermanent, that is, everything is constantly changing, and nothing in the universe is permanent forever. There is a saying that "no one can bathe twice on a river", which means that everything is constantly changing, the river has also changed compared to the last bath, from a relative perspective we can feel that it is the same river, but actually every water molecule in that river has changed and we have also changed. We can experience the operation of Impermanence in any aspect of our lives if we are willing to pay attention and spend time observing and reflecting on it continuously. Impermanence may be something we've all heard about in our lives, but perhaps few of us have ever questioned what its true profound meaning is, and even fewer of those who spend a lot of time contemplating Impermanence in order to be able to apply their understanding of Impermanence to real life More. Often it is only used as exclamation phrases in certain special situations. For example, when we receive news about the sudden death of a friend, or a relative we have just met, we often have feelings of rejuvenation and often say "life is impermanent", when we feel such an exclamation we do not really understand what impermanence is. and when that revival has passed, we will quickly return to our usual cycle of hustle and bustle and forget Impermanence immediately. If we stop at such a superficial glimpse of Impermanence, do not spend any more time pondering it more deeply, observing its operation, this knowledge will have no effect other than exclamation situations, because with such fleeting knowledge we will not be able to apply anything to activities daily movements to make life more pleasant and light.
The entire universe is an expression of conscious energy at a multitude of different vibrational frequencies, or in other words, everything has a certain level of consciousness to keep it in existence. The only way to know this is to always question the existence of things, and to constantly seek answers by feeling and observing. How is a living trunk different from a dead trunk? With a living stem its molecules are tightly bonded into a shape, while a dead stem the molecules slowly disintegrate, the original shape no longer retains and over time it will completely disappear as it never was. So what keeps the molecules of a tree trunk so closely connected in life, there must be some level of consciousness hidden in the trunk that does that, and when that source of consciousness transforms and leaves, everything of the trunk also disintegrates. We can also observe right in our body, just breathing, we only stop for about 10 to 20 beats, we are uncomfortable and stop for 5-8 minutes, we will die, but when we remember to breathe, if we have to remember to breathe, it will be difficult for us to live for more than 30 minutes. And in the body, there are countless other organs such as the heart, liver, lungs to countless blood vessels and tiny nerves... If we let ourselves use our common sense to manipulate all these details, we will die in less than a second. Yet all the subtle details in such a complex body still work rhythmically and automatically to help us survive, even when we are asleep, what did do it. There has to be the presence of a level of consciousness, an intelligence that is much higher than our usual level of consciousness to operate all of that. Today's science also has state-of-the-art equipment to carry out experiments on metaphysical things that were not possible in previous times. People did an experiment to capture the texture of the water molecule, then put the water to listen to music and take a picture, and found that the texture of the water molecule became more balanced and beautiful than the original texture, and the texture of the water molecule changed with each song played. They also did a "curse a tree" experiment by having two identical trees placed in a school and given the same amount of water, fertilizer and sunlight for 30 days. The students were asked to record their voices, some of them saying kind and loving words, others saying criticism and insults. While both trees receive the same care for water and sunlight for 30 days straight, one receives daily praise and encouragement, while the other is inundated with malicious words. As a result, the tree that is given words of love and encouragement remains healthy and growing, while the tree that is bullied and insulted seems to wither because of malicious words. There is also a "double-slit" experiment to examine the expression of photons when they are launched through a narrow slit with the observer on and without the observer on. The results of the experiment showed that just by turning on the observer, the photons would faithfully represent the nature of the particle, while when the observer was turned off, the wave nature of the photon would appear again. And there are many other discoveries that are beyond the reach of the human intellect. Although experimental science today has developed tremendously, the understanding of reality In terms of nature and the universe, there are still many limits. It is difficult for us to have a deep understanding of reality, nature, and the universe only on the basis of the discoveries of empirical science, but if we spend a lot of time contemplating deeply all that we observe from our surroundings, From the discoveries of empirical science and, most importantly, from within each of us, we can sense that every element of life contains an invisible conscious energy to some extent. Everything is a manifestation of conscious energy, so it all has the natural property of energy to be ever-changing, never remaining in one state forever. With such an intelligent and miraculous structure, the flow of life cannot be a stagnant pond with a fixed pattern, but it is obvious that it is always circulating and constantly changing.
We don't need to have the death of someone familiar to get a glimpse of Impermanence. If we trace the past or observe to perceive everything, every state, every circumstance both inside and outside of us with a deep mindfulness and stillness, we will notice Impermanence at work all the time and everywhere in all. All elements in life, whether small or large, simple or complex, are never permanent and unchanging, but are constantly changing, both in tangible and intangible aspects. The immense transformation of a cloud of gas dust into a planet to the subtle and constant changes in our moods all represent the operation of Impermanence. A shirt that we wore just last week felt very good, but the next week we see that it is no longer as beautiful as before, it is only a week, so the shirt is still the same, but our perception of it has changed. Every day we don't notice the transformation in our form, but if we look back at a picture of ourselves two years ago we will see how it has changed, and the same is true for other tangible objects such as a car or shoes. A sport that only a few years ago we were extremely excited to play it, but now that interest is gone. A song that we may have wanted to sing a few months ago but now we don't want to sing it anymore. Sometimes in the morning we are healthy normally, but in the afternoon we feel a hot headache and have to go to bed to rest. Many times, when we are in a normal, peaceful state, suddenly remember something, we forget to do it, so that the calm state is no longer there, but turns into a state of insecurity and anxiety. Sometimes we are angry for some reason, but suddenly we hear that we have just been promoted in the job, the feeling of anger is gone and transforms into satisfaction and joy, at that time we often see that the incident that has just made us angry is not a big deal. A few years ago during the Covid period, people only wished not to be infected, only prayed for peace to continue living, everything else was not important, but now the simple desire to just live is gone, it has turned into many other wishes such as wanting to have more houses, add a car. When we are in love at the climax and passion, we feel that just being with that person is more than enough, we no longer need anything more, then after a while the sublimation state will no longer exist and we feel that just being with that person is not enough. I also need him to do some more things of my own accord. One month we may have been a successful and wealthy person, but the next month that position may have disappeared and we have turned into a bankrupt and a pile of debt. These are things that are always happening every day, every hour around us and inside us, just by looking at everything quietly and quietly, we will realize that Impermanence is not at all something metaphysical, magical, but how clearly it exists and operates in a practical way.
Impermanence is an immutable law of life, but when our consciousness is still at the level of only operating automatically according to the patterns of mind set by the general tendency of consciousness, we often forget Impermanence, or see Impermanence as something extremely magical and detached from reality. The general pattern of the mind at the level of ignorance always tends to run counter to the true laws that operate life, so if it only works within the limits of such a cognitive pattern, life is often full of confusion and unsatisfactory things. Our cognitive paradigm always has an illusion of stability because it assumes that it is safe, it always requires the desire for stability at all times. Since childhood, we have always been reminded to strive to study so that we can have a stable life in the future. We always want everything to be stable, a stable house, a stable job, a stable marriage, and stable children in order to be in line with common perception and feel safe, but it goes against the ever-changing, unpredictable nature of life. Because we are only automatically oriented towards a type of stereotypical perception, we do not recognize Impermanence in everything, so instead of happily accepting this nature of life and choosing an inspiring, positive way of living every moment, we often lose a lot of time and inspiration in life trying to find a way to control everything in order to keep it's stable. When we were still in school, we didn't really pay attention to inspiration in subjects, we only studied with a model reflection to satisfy our teachers, parents at that time we felt safe and stable, growing up a little bit, we only knew how to bury our heads in school, we didn't dare to spend time to have fun and balance with study time to create more inspiration for life, because we are always worried about a stable future with a stable job. When we go to work, we don't pay attention to inspiration at work, we just have to do it to have a stable amount of money to maintain a stable life. Everything we do is just towards stability, we are not attentive and clear enough to perceive the law of Impermanence, but whether we see it or not, whether we realize it or not, Impermanence is in constant motion, so when we perpetuate such an illusion against the law, we will always encounter situations, circumstances make us disappointed and stuck. This illusion of stability will make us believe that stability is real, it limits our ability to accept and adapt to changes in our lives very much, so it is always very easy to fall into a state of stagnation and panic when there is a change in circumstances and living conditions. And reality has proven that people who accept to engage in what is considered unstable and insecure often have a more productive life, a stronger vitality, a deeper level of consciousness. The reason for this is that they have the ability to accept Impermanence and welcome Impermanence as an opportunity.
When our consciousness is still limited to the established general cognitive pattern, which is not clear enough, we always aim for stability and consider it necessary, but there is still a part of us that understands that everything in life is extremely fragile. It's perishable, it's perishable, it's broken, and we feel so sad and scared about it, we almost just want to hold on to everything forever. It is because we are not yet clear enough to see the wonderful meaning of Impermanence, of the fragile nature that is easily transformed in everything. Life is always operated by some transcendent intelligence, it is profound, precise and full of wisdom, it is much higher than the general cognitive pattern of mankind, everything that is destined is perfect and hides a transcendent meaning. deeply, there is never a mistake. Therefore, it is not necessary to fear any element of life such as Impermanence. We are afraid because we have not fully understood the profound meaning of Impermanence, of the fragile nature of change, so instead of fear, we should pay silent attention, meditate on it a lot in order to see it in a real way. clear in its true meaning. This will give us a deep sense of Impermanence, we will see Impermanence as something obvious, that cannot be absent, from which we will be able to accept it naturally, comfortably and most importantly then we will be able to apply our understandings. the perception of Impermanence in our daily activities to help us live a more productive life.
Indeed, it is the fragile nature and unpredictable transformation of everything that is the gift of life. If everything in life that has been formed will be stable forever, so there is no possibility to innovate and change, what is the meaning of this life? Does everything always have the ability to change and develop infinitely so that the new flow of life is always created, continued in a continuous, fresh, and meaningful way? Imagine life as a movie and this is an extremely stable movie because there are no breakthroughs or changes in the movie, everything from the beginning to the end of the movie is repeated in a stable and steady way, nothing can change newly. Is such a movie extremely boring and tasteless? Life is a film with a director who is an escapist, transcendent intelligence, how can it be such a lifeless and boring film. Therefore, Impermanence is an indispensable element that the director has created for the film Life. People who always aim for stability and assume that unfortunately they have that stability, for example, a job in a state agency in the morning in terms of a stable salary, a very stable job, no pressure, every day and nothing else. The house is stable, the wife and children are stable at home every day to cook three meals, and there is no shortage of meals, whether they are really satisfied and satisfied with such a very stable situation. Will they get a regular salary and send it to the bank to make it safe to eat three meals a day, or will they put their money into something that makes it unstable, so that it becomes capable? Will they stay in a stable house forever or will they have to find somewhere to change the wind to make it less stable? Do they just come home from work at work every day to eat in a stable way, or do they also want it to be a little less stable in the afternoon by going out for drinks with friends? The answers to the above questions are clear. If stability is an urgent desire, why can't we bear it when we have it, then we wish for and invite into our lives unstable factors. If we meditate deeply on such a situation, we will see that if everything, every circumstance is forced to be fixed, to remain in a stable state forever, then we will have no inspiration in living in the world, then life is really a series of disastrous days and we will see that we are lucky to have Impermanence. It's lucky because everything is always capable of transforming and transforming.
Once we have been able to deeply feel the profound nature and meaning of Impermanence, we need to apply these insights and feelings to our daily activities to make our lives more pleasant, comfortable, and productive. Otherwise, all the knowledge will only stop at the level of knowledge, the feelings cannot go deeper. For it is only through application that our lives are improved, and only through application can our perception of Impermanence become deeper and more authentic. Our illusion of stability as safe when not wise will lead us to always seek stability instead of happily accepting natural changes and being comfortable operating in the present moment. At the same time, this illusion also creates an illusion of stability in specific situations. We need to meditate on Impermanence a lot in order to see it really, clearly in its true meaning, in order to dispel the illusion of stability. When the illusion that everything is stable is somewhat dissipated, our understandings and feelings of Impermanence will slowly emerge in each specific situation and circumstance. Then we will be able to choose actions that are more beneficial to us in those particular circumstances and situations, through which our lives become more positive and productive. Just as when we have achieved success and are in a good position, with power in our hands, but our consciousness is still in an unclear state, without deep understanding and feeling of the influence of Impermanence on everything, we rarely think about the prospect of what it will be like when those things are gone. We often have the illusion that our success and other status is permanent, so we take actions that are detrimental to ourselves such as complacency, arrogance, ostentatious and often we will use our existing power and advantage to suppress others. Appropriating from others to get richer without thinking about the consequences when those successes and powers are no longer there, the reason why we can freely perform actions that may have such bad consequences for us is because we do not know anything about Impermanence. or we know it, but it is extremely superficial and shallow, so we have the illusion that everything will be fixed like that, difficult to change, so we are not afraid. Another situation if, when we are at a disadvantage, for example, by nature suffering from a certain disease, when we are unaware of the operation of Impermanence, of the possibility of change in everything we often have the illusion that the unfavorable situation will be forever. Our illness will be like this all the time, and the consequence of this hallucination is that it makes us anxious to the point of unnecessarily, sometimes to the point of despair in a completely unnecessary way. It is the state of excessive anxiety that arises from the hallucination that the bad situation will cling to us forever that will make our situation worse. Thus, a deep understanding of Impermanence is extremely necessary for our lives, when we have a deep understanding of Impermanence, in each specific situation, the illusions of the fixation and immutability of the situation will be reduced, and instead the ability to perceive the Impermanence hidden in the situation. When we achieve success or encounter advantages, we also have a clear feeling that this state will inevitably change and pass, then we are still happy to enjoy that achievement, the advantage ofBut the joy will be gentle and delicate, without the illusion that it will last forever but be overly happy, but become arrogant and ridiculous, using the advantage to suppress others, thereby avoiding unnecessary harmful consequences. In the same way, in unfavorable situations, we still have a sense of Impermanence hidden in the situation, everything will inevitably change and pass, but it cannot exist like this forever, then we will be more optimistic about the situation, not overly anxious or thinking in an unnecessary desperate way. From this optimism, the possibilities to turn the unfavorable situation can come sooner and earlier.
When our consciousness is trapped in the illusion of stability, without a deep sense and understanding of Impermanence, we are often very afraid of change, we automatically distance ourselves from new things, we always tend to operate only in environments that we consider stable and safe. It is very difficult for us to change a job, a new working environment, even though the old job and the old environment are no longer satisfying or inspiring, we still cling to it because we think that it is stable anyway. Even when there is a new, more effective way of doing a job we are doing, we are very afraid to change the way we do it because doing it the old way feels more familiar, stable and safer, so even if it does not work and takes a lot of time, we still do not want to change. All of this arises from the illusion of stability when we do not understand the impermanence of everything. When we just want to embrace, to hold on to what we consider stable and safe because it is familiar, to think that we can't let go of it, we are limiting ourselves, we are inadvertently allowing the tastelessness, the dullness, and the irrationality of the old things that we have been so tired of taking over our entire lives just for the sake of stability. We are trading inspiration and life time for a useless illusion. We don't know that what we think is stable and familiar can also change and break at any time, we can't predict or control this. Therefore, when we have understood the nature of Impermanence, the ever-changing nature of everything, we should be more open, more positive to changes, to new things that inspire, to allow these things to come into life as a matter of course. as a new opportunity instead of just wanting a boring stability. We can aim for a relative stability in our lives, which is normal, but if the desire for stability becomes a tendency, a motivation that always haunts us, forcing us to always cling to old things even though they are boring and no longer relevant, make us extremely afraid of changes, new but inspiring things, at that time we are stuck. Everything in the world always has a fragile nature, it contains a possibility that can change and change at all times in the same way, so we cannot know which is stable and which is unstable, because when it changes and how it changes is something that we cannot predict or control. Because of this, the feeling of something stable is always just a false illusion arising from a lack of awareness, a lack of a deep sense of impermanence in life.
